LEADERSHIP
WASHINGTON COUNTY
10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Ten years of Leadership Washington County was celebrated with a dinner and auction at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Friday, September 24th. Steve Smith and Ken Young served as chairmen for this event, along with Kay Kennedy, Family and Consumer Science Agent, Rick Greenwell, Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent and Cheryl Mattingly, Office manager.
Each class had a representative to inform their members of their part in the program. Some decorated the tables, some were responsible for purchasing an auction item, others pitched in were needed.
Kentucky's Choice Homegrown Beef provided the delicious steaks, and Helen Osborne, a graduate of the program, catered the rest of the meal. What a fine job they did!
Jim and Sherry Hatchett , owners of "Simple Pleasures Vineyard" and Bob and Ann Karsner owners of "Horseshoe Bend Vineyard", provided wine for the evening. It went beautifully with the meal.
Steve Smith was the MC for the night. He presented a Powerpoint presentation along with the help of Mike Carey, "One Day In Washington County". Steve took excellent pictures of our county that left us breathless.
Mrs. Judy Creech, who has instructed every class, was present to speak to us all. Of course, she came prepared with stories from previous classes and her ever popular pig ears. Everybody Loves Judy!
Mr. Wildcat himself, Bill Keightly, entertained the graduates and their guest with numerous stories from his life experiences working with the UK Basketball program. Mr. Keightly has ties to Washington County. He was enjoyed thoroughly by all. What a neat person, we could have listened to his stories all night!
A bottle of Makers Mark signed by Mr. Keightly was auctioned to raise money to support the Leadership Program. It was purchased by Steve and Beverly Devine. Numerous baskets were donated by the Leadership Classes that were purchased by silent auction, also to benefit the program.
The night was very entertaining and well attended. We had food, fellowship and fun, what more can you ask for?
