Baby Open House Booths were set up in the Extension Office's meeting room and each booth had a really nice favors for each person in attendance. The girls received approximately $100.00 worth of items which included: bottles, bibs, socks, brush/comb set, baby oil, lotion, shampoo, soap, cleaning supplies, and detergent. Door prizes given away were: 2 car seats, a casserole dish, towels and 2 smoke detectors. Refreshments that we served were punch, fresh fruit salad, cake (decorated with pacifiers and baby pins) and baby diapers filled with peanuts. This program was a big success.
Some other
programs I take part in are done through Adult Day Care, Pioneer
Club House and Harpers Nursing Home where lessons are taught to
adults with slow learning abilities. Also, the Metcalfe Food
Stamp Office holds meetings once a month with 8 – 15 in
attendance for the learning sessions.
A total of
35 families are required to graduate one year later with a lesson
being taught each month in the home.
Some school
programs that I do are from K – 4th grade in all
Metcalfe County Schools using puppets, stories, food models,
etc. Breakfast is served to all 4th graders in a
three morning session. The Material being used is from the Dairy
Council.
Migrant
Education/Metcalfe County Extension Office hold a meeting once a
year (during Thanksgiving) with combined audiences attending.
