Hiking Schedule

Spring 2008

April 25 & 26 - Dog Slaughter Falls –  We will take in Dog Slaughter Falls trail on April 25th and 26th.  We will hike the Dog Slaughter Trail, past Dog Slaughter Falls to the Cumberland River, then connect up with the Sheltowee Trace, where we will then hike along the Cumberland River to Cumberland Falls. This hike will be a little over 4 miles in length. 

We will leave the Extension Office Parking lot at 9:00 am. and will be at Cumberland Falls Parking Lot at 9:30 am.  If you are meeting at the Falls Parking Lot meet at the bridge end of the parking lot.

May 20^{th -}   Will be a work day on the Laurel Creek Trail.  This is a great trail that needs some tender love and care in one location.  In order to participate in this work you will need to complete two volunteer forms for the US Forest Service.  One of these forms is for a background check.  I have some of the forms here or you can pick them up at the Stearns Ranger Station north of Whitley City.  Let me know if you need them mailed to you.  These need to be completed ASAP.

May 24^th – Will be a trip into Big Spring Falls from the Dicks Gap Overlook parking lot.  This will be a 4-5 miles round trip and will take in Dicks Gap Falls, Big Spring Falls, Catawba Overlook, and Dicks Gap Overlook.  

October 10^th – 12^th  - Hiking Weekend.  There will be a hiking weekend held here.  We are in the infancy stages as far as planning goes.  If you would like to help plan, organize, and implement this program let me know.
