The Magoffin County Extension EFNEP Assistant is Joanna Risner.  Through home visits, group meetings, and other educational offerings the EFNEP assistant helps Magoffin County Extension Service clients to implement better nutrition in their lives.  They also provide educational information regarding food security issues, budgeting, consumer information, managing resources, food preparation skills and food safety and sanitation.

The main goal of EFNEP is to improve the nutrition-related skills of adults, youth groups and senior citizens in Magoffin County.  The EFNEP program is funded by Magoffin County and the University of Kentucky.

Backpack Program

The Magoffin County Extension Service Backpack Program is a program which provides backpacks full of food for children at area schools who would otherwise not have enough food to eat over the weekend.  The backpacks are filled with donated foods that are easy to open and/or eat and then sent home with the school children on Friday afternoon.  The children return the empty backpacks the next week for them to be filled again on that Friday.  For more information , or to find out how you can help, contact  Joanna Risner.
