Free Soil Testing Program ends November 30 - bring your samples soon!
The Madison County Extension District Board, Tri-County Fertilizer and Propane, Southern States of Richmond, The Allen Company, and other local agribusinesses have teamed up to offer free soil testing this fall during the months of September, October, and November for Madison County Residents.
The normal $5 per sample charge will be waived. Agricultural and Horticultural samples from Madison County residents, will both be accepted. See the informational flyer about this program for details.
Attention CPH-45 Sale Participants!
If you plan on marketing CPH-45 feeder calves this fall and winter be aware that there have been MAJOR CHANGES in the way that the source and age verification process in completed.
Integrated Traceability Solutions (ITS) is now the PVP service provider. Cattle are now verified by paperwork (ITS KIT 100) and a phone call to the producer. The ITS KIT 100 and a phone call will be needed to verify each group of calves that you will be selling as PVP (i.e. spring and fall calving seasons)
There is also a new tag distribution protocol. Cooperative Extension Service Offices will no longer handle CPH-45 tags. They will be shipped direct from ITS/KBN in Lexington. Paperwork needs to be completed AT LEAST 3 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE SALE. Cattle that do not have the appropriate paperwork completed and tagged on the farm will not be eligible for participation in the CPH-45 PVP sale.
Please call the Madison County Extension Center, 859-623-4072, for more information.
