"Opportunities You Don’t Want to Miss"

The price of gas may have curtailed your travel plans for the summer. You can still enjoy a taste of flavors and preparation tips from the sunshine state! Register by paying a $5 registration fee by June 20.

Putting FUN into your Physical Activity. Many of us are lamenting the closing of the local fitness center. That cannot be an excuse to forget about the importance of physical fitness in our daily lifestyle. Remember these points:

Find a partner to exercise with. This is a great way to get some encouragement and keep interested in your exercise program. Exercising with a partner is a great way to build relationships.

Understand the benefits of physical activities. Regular physical activity can help reduce stress and anxiety, lower cholesterol and blood pressure, and help you look and feel better. Set a goal for your springtime physical activity and work towards achieving it. Starting slowly and choosing an activity that you enjoy can help you stick with it. Remember slow and steady wins the race.

New things. There is no limit to the things you can try to get the amount of daily physical activity you need. Try walking for a cause, form a neighborhood physical activity group, get involved in line or some other form of dancing, or plant a garden, to name a few.

Remember Pedometers are available at the Extension Office. The charge is $10 for a pedometer that retails for $23.95. The $10 will be refunded if you turn in your eight week walking log!
