Crittenden and Lyon cattle producers are invited to attend a Summer Beef Meeting on Thursday,
August 16 at 6:30 p.m. It will be held at the Western Kentucky Correctional Complex. The speakers will focus on strategies for winter feeding. Kevin Laurent, UK Beef and Swine Specialist will discuss the new Winter Stockpiling program and Roy Burris, UK Beef Nutritionist, will discuss Using Feeding Alternatives and Commodity Feeds. Master Gardeners classes begin August 23. If you are interested in joining the Master Gardener program, contact Susan Fox at the Lyon County Extension Office. Classes will start August 23rd and meet each Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., August through early November. The first and last class will be held at the Lyon County Extension Office and the remaining classes will be taught at the UK Research and Education Center in Princeton. The cost of the program will be $80 per person. Call the Extension office at 388-2341 for reservations.
Beginners Guide to Home Landscaping classes: The first is Basic Home Landscape Design on Monday, September 10, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The course instructor will be Deneise Tefft, Extension Master Gardener. The class will include the principles of landscape design followed by time to work on your own design. The second class will be Tree and Shrub Selection and Planting which will be held on Tuesday, September 18 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Participants may attend one or both classes. There is no fee. Call the Extension office at 388-2341 to register.
