The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is a FREE service of the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service, and is available to families raising young children, and pregnant or parenting teens.
Hello, my name is Pearlie Eversole and I am the EFNEP Assistant for Leslie County, and I am available to teach lessons to groups or families. Also, I can help you locate resources you may need. University of Kentucky Nutrition Education Program
"Improving the Health & Well-Being of Families"
The University of Kentucky Nutrition Education Program teaches how to:

Achieve and maintain good health

Eat five or more fruits and vegetables daily

Choose food low in fat and high in fiber

Increase physical activity

Avoid running out of food

Prepare and store food safely

Make healthy food choices on a limited budget
Features of the Nutrition Education Program:

Targets low-income families and youth
- Educational programs presented by county Extension agents, program assistants, and volunteers who have been trained by the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service
- Educational programs are based on nutritional needs of participants
- Youth programs based on school core content
- Research based educational materials developed by specialists
