Laurel County Extension Homemakers- Who Are We?
Extension Homemakers are people, like you, who learn together. The Kentucky Extenson Homemakers association is a group of individuals who gather together to promote their common goal of education in such areas as family/home life, family resource management and nutrition. Over 22,000 strong, memgers meet monthly in Extension Homemaker Clubs to learn, socialize and better their communities. Traditional clubs learn from a variety of topics while specialty Clups focus on a particular topic. Extension Homemaker clubs are open to everyone without reguard to race, color, age, sex, religion or national origin.
Mailbox membership is available for those who are unable to commit to a monthly meeting. Through the mail, mailbox members are recipients of all materials culb members receive Mailbox members are invited to participate in all lessons and activities without the responsibility of belonging to a particular club.
More than 200 Laurel Countains belong to the Laurel County Extension Homemakers. Several traditional and specialty clubs meet monthly throughout the county, daytime and evening hours. Local members receive a monthly lesson, a monthly newsletter and other opportunities to learn through special interest lessons. Community involvment is encouraged through the giving of: high school scholarships, support of the Ovarian Cancer Research Program at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, community events and much more.
