2012 Farmers Market Membership

It's time to start planning for the 2012 season. Membership fees are now being accepted for new and renewing Market vendors. Membership fees will remain the same for 2012: $50 for booth rental under the shelter; $30 for a booth in the parking lot; and $10 for one-day rental.
Members who have not already paid their 2012 dues will have until Friday, February 24, at 4 PM to submit payment and renew the same space for 2012. A drawing will be held on Monday, February 27 at 7 PM for any shelter spaces that have not been renewed. Any vendor who would like to be entered in the drawing for a shelter space should contact the Extension Office at 864-4167 no later than February 24.
For vendors who are renewing spaces under the shelter, please note that the numbering of the booths has changed. If you renew, you will still be in the same space as last year; however, the company that painted the parking lot reversed the numbers so your booth number will be different.
Membership dues can be paid at the Laurel County Extension Office by cash or check. Please make checks payable to the London-Laurel County Farmers Market. Please review the 2012 Market Guidelines. Vendors must submit an Acknowledgement form with dues payments stating that they have read the guidelines and agree to comply.
Landscape Pruning Workshop and Demonstration On Friday, February 17, at 1 PM, Bill will conduct a hands-on demonstration of landscape tree pruning at the Extension office. This workshop will be outside so please dress appropriately for the weather conditions. These workshops are free, but pre-registration is required for planning purposes.
Landscape tree pruning can be a lot different than pruning fruit trees...and topping is not the only option! Join us at the Extension Office on Thursday, February 16, at 6 PM as Bill Fountain from UK’s Horticulture Department discusses the how’s, why’s, and when’s for pruning landscape trees.
Fruit Tree Pruning and Grafting Time! Chris Smigall will also be conducting a fruit tree and berry pruning demonstration from 1:30-3:00 PM at a location to be determined. Space in the class is not limited, but pre-registration is necessary so we can provide directions to the pruning location. Rootstock orders will be accepted while supplies last. Both the apple (EMLA 7 - semi dwarf) and pear (pyrus calleryana) are $1/each. Call our office at 606-864-4167 to place your order.
Our annual pruning and grafting workshops have been scheduled for Tuesday, February 21. Guest presenter, John Strang, from the UK College of Agriculture's Horticulture Department, will be conducting a workshop at the Laurel County Extension Office at 10 AM about grafting fruit trees. The workshop will be repeated at 6 PM that evening. Sessions are limited to 50 people and are expected to fill quickly. To register for the grafting class, contact our office at 606-864-4167.
The Spring 2012 Gardeners Toolbox Workshop schedule has been finalized! We're bringing back several of our most popular classes...and we've added some new ones based on requests that we've received. Click here for a complete schedule of classes.
