London-Laurel County Farmers Market

The Farmers Market, located at the corner of Main Street and Dixie Street in downtown London, is open from May through October on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. until noon, or until supplies are gone. For the 2012 season, the Market will open on Saturday, April 28, in conjunction with the Master Gardener Flower and Garden Show.
Serve your family the freshest seasonal fruits and vegetables grown by our neighbors right here in Laurel County. Purchases made from the market support our local producers and assure the customers quality, locally grown items at a reasonable price.
During market season, be sure to stop by "The Kitchen" from 9-11 AM to try free samples and pick up new recipes for preparing seasonal fruits and vegetables.
2012 Farmers Market Membership
It's time to start planning for the 2012 season. Membership fees are now being accepted for new and renewing Market vendors. Membership fees will remain the same for 2012: $50 for booth rental under the shelter; $30 for a booth in the parking lot; and $10 for one-day rental.
Members who have not already paid their 2012 dues will have until Friday, February 24, at 4 PM to submit payment and renew the same space for 2012. A drawing will be held on Monday, February 27 at 7 PM for any shelter spaces that have not been renewed. Any vendor who would like to be entered in the drawing for a shelter space should contact the Extension Office at 864-4167 no later than February 24.
For vendors who are renewing spaces under the shelter, please note that the numbering of the booths has changed. If you renew, you will still be in the same space as last year; however, the company that painted the parking lot reversed the numbers so your booth number will be different.
Membership dues can be paid at the Laurel County Extension Office by cash or check. Please make checks payable to the London-Laurel County Farmers Market. Please review the 2012 Market Guidelines. Vendors must submit an Acknowledgement form with dues payments stating that they have read the guidelines and agree to comply.
Produce Availability
Since everything sold at the market must be locally grown or produced, the variety of items offered at the Farmers Market is based largely on what crops are in season. A message to farmers market vendors from Extension Professor, Sandra Bastin:
"Please alert farmers market managers this year that breads are not exempt products at farmers market. If the bread contains a fresh or dried fruit, vegetable, herb, or nut raised by the farmer, they are eligible to sell the bread at farmers market only.....IF they have a homebased processor registration. There is no fee but to be registered a homebased processor must make application and be approved before sales are considered legal. An application may be obtained from shadrick.adams@ky.gov. IF the farmer is not a homebased processor, then they must have a commercial license to sell at farmers markets. Of course, proper labeling is required on all products."
