4-H Livestock
Livestock Programs
Kenton County has a strong youth livestock program which includes Beef Cattle, Dairy Cattle, Goat, Lamb/Sheep, Hog/Swine, Country Ham. Steer weigh-in is normally in January or February; lamb & hog weigh-in is normally during April; all interested youth must own their animal at that time and have it tagged at the weigh-in. For a complete copy of the official rules, contact the Extension Office.
Livestock Judging
Learning how to correctly evaluate and select animals is an important component of the livestock industry. Judging team practices will teach any youth (farm background not necessary) to place classes of animals, recognize breeds and assess genetic value.
