ALZHEIMERS
LEADER TRAINING
|
An estimated 4.5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s disease.
The quality of life for persons with Alzheimer’s disease is directly
related to the relationship they have with their care providers.
What is Alzheimer’s disease? Are
you prepared to become the caregiver of a person diagnosed with Alzheimer’s
disease? This program will provide
participants with information about the disease and information about quality
care.
Join the homemakers for the May Leader Training on Tuesday,
April 22, 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Harrison County Extension Office.
Harrison County Homemakers Blood Drive will be held Friday,
May 9, 10:30-6:30 p.m. in front of the courthouse in conjunction with
Homemaker Day. Photo ID now required
of all donors. Each donor will
receive a free 40th Anniversary 1970’s style T-shirt from Central
Kentucky Blood Center.
Extension, Farm Bureau, Harrison Memorial Hospital and The School
Resource Centers are sponsoring a fun-filled educational day at the fairgrounds
for all fifth graders in the county on Wednesday,
May 7. At Safety Day, we
will have 14 stations at which the youth will learn about gun safety, tractor
safety, water safety, germ safety, sun protection, pet safety, lawn mower
safety, ATV safety, weed eater safety and drug awareness.
They will see a large animal safety demonstration, a live demonstration
on electrical safety, hand washing, and gun safety.
They will get to crawl through the smokehouse and learn about fire
safety. See the Jaws of Life “open
a wrecked car” and meet the crash test dummy guys.
The Food Pantry is constantly in need of replenishing their shelves.
Please encourage members to bring food items to your April meeting that
can be delivered to the Community Food Pantry on April 30 from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Bring items to the Food Pantry on Locust Street and enter the rear of the
building.
If mailbox members would like to help with this project, please bring
canned or non-perishable items. Thanks.
On Tuesday, May 20, Harrison County Extension Homemakers are
taking “first time” participants to Lexington for this FREE SCREENING. We will
leave the office parking lot at 10:30 a.m. and return around 3:00 p.m.
Lunch will be with the group at your expense.
If you have never been, this is an opportune time to go with a group,
learn where to park, what
UK
building to enter and then for your next visit you can take another woman.
Call the Extension Office at 234-5510 to get your name on the list or for
