The average American eats over 200 pounds of meat each year.  Some of the most common questions asked by consumers are how to select the proper cut, determine the best preparation method, how to store properly, and food safety basics.  This program will answer those questions as well as cover a few other considerations when selecting meat.

This lesson offers participants accessible tools to assist them in implementing safe, simple meditation techniques, deep breathing, and basic standing and seated stretching exercises.  Through participation in this program and practice of these siple exercises, participants will increase their physical activity level and flexibility, and will know how to release stress and tension when needed.

Everyone knows that fish is good for you.  The fats in fish, especially fatty fish like salmon, tuna, and mackerel are thought to help prevent heart disease and can even aid in preventing diseases like Alzheimer's and stroke.  But it seems that many people are afraid of cooking fish at home.  Buying, storing, and cooking fish isn't difficult; it just requires a little knowledge.  This program will go over tips and suggestions on how to start incorporating more fish into your diet.

Many Americans are getting a salt overload, especially through processed foods.  This lesson will cover sources of sodium in your diet, ways to decrease your sodium intake, how sodium affects your health, and reading food labels to compare sodium content.  You will also learn info about different salt varieties such as kosher salt, sea salt, seasoned salts, etc.

This lesson will guide homemakes in ways to reduce consumption of energy or resources in their home garden by conserving water.  An area horticulture agent will give you ideas on how to manage water issues in your home landscape such as developing a rain garden.
