Food
Preservation Class on July 15th, 1pm
Canning and freezing is a simple and great way to preserve your garden bounty or
that from the farmer’s market. If you are a little fuzzy or new to
food preservation, attend a workshop on Food Preservation on Tuesday, July 15, 1
pm at the Fleming County Extension office. Topics to be covered are vegetable
canning, freezing of vegetables and fruit and safety issues.
Techniques will be demonstrated. Pre registration is a must by
calling 845-4641. If enough response, an evening class may be held.
Please call to say you are interested in an evening program.
Pressure Canner Gauge Testing Offered
Canning season is soon approaching, so have all your tools ready and in proper
shape. The Fleming County Cooperative Extension Service offers free
canner gauge testing and publications for proper canning, freezing and drying of
foods. Call the Extension office to set up a time for the free canner
gauge testing. Only non-jiggler type gauges can be checked. Call
845-4641 for more information.
Ewing Fleming County Fair - Floral Hall
Get
those projects done, clean off those canning jars because Fair time is
approaching.
The Floral Hall committee is encouraging all folks to enter items they
have created.
It can be any type of needle work, sewing projects, wood working,
painting, basketry, and more.
Don’t forget the baked goods and canning items.
If you are not sure if your type of handwork or food product has a
category,
contact the Fleming County Extension Office or refer to a fair book.
Floral Hall entries are open class and opened to the world.
Cut
flower specimens categories were added a few years ago.
This proved to be successful. So be
grooming your flower gardens
and bring an entry. Entries should be brought to the fairgrounds
on Monday July 7th, between the hours of noon and 3 pm.
If you need assistance, please call the Fleming Co. Extension office at
845-4641.
