Kentucky Cooperative Extension Regional Programming
For nearly 100
years, Extension has made a positive difference in the lives of
Kentuckians through research based educational programs. In February
2002, a process of re-envisioning Extension began. This resulted in
the Regional Programming Approach which will enable Extension to
better use resources and become more flexible and responsive to
rapidly changing issues and needs of Kentucky communities.
Concepts of
Regional Programming
-
Regional Issues and Program Committee will address important issues
and program needs in eastern, central, or western Kentucky or in the
state as a whole.
-
Issues will be addressed jointly, linking field agents with
specialists, faculty, associates, and administrators at UK and KSU
main campuses and field stations.
-
Issues will be identified using input from County Extension
Councils.
-
Programming priorities will be developed on a regional basis.
-
Resources will focus on issues of high importance with agents
implementing programs as appropriate for individual counties.
-
Colleges within UK or KSU can better focus their own outreach
efforts through Extension’s network regionally.
-
Extension Community and Economic Development efforts will be
strengthened
