Ladies and Gentlemen -
Think about the last trip you took in a car. Was it by choice or by necessity?
Would you be surprised to learn that a 2005 study sponsored by the Southwest Region University Transportation Center found that the time people spend in a car is determined more by choice than by need? In fact, these researchers found that “people often take extra trips, choose longer routes, pick more distant destinations and opt to drive rather than walk or bike" when it comes to conducting day-to-day errands and business.
The point here is that there is a good chance that the time you spend in traffic could be replaced by good old fashioned exercise - and we all know the benefits of THAT!
If you would like to know more about how you can get out of the car and enjoy the freedom of getting around in a healthier way, the University of Kentucky Conference on Physical Activity and the Built Environment is for you.
Be prepared to learn a LOT about what the “built environment” is and how to get it to work for you to improve the health of Kentuckians state-wide. As an important bonus, we will show you how to find the resources available to your county to get the built environment to work for you.
Mark your calendars for June from noon on the 2nd through noon on the 3rd
Lexington Griffin Gate Marriott
Resort & Spa
1800 Newtown Pike
Lexington KY 40511
Here is the best part of all - rooms will cost only $88 per night plus tax (single, double, triple or quad). Quite a deal considering a standard "rack" range of $169-289 plus tax per night during that time period.
Of course, if your travel budget is an issue, scholarship monies are available! For help on that, contact Debbie Murray (deborah.murray@uky.edu)
For more details on this exciting event, stay tuned, they are on the way!
