Performance Evaluation – Agent Role in Evaluations of Staff Assistants, Program Assistants and Facilities Managers

County Extension Agents have the responsibility of serving as the local source for assuring that performance appraisals are conducted with the staff assistants, program assistants and facilities managers. 

 

Annually, one agent will serve as the county coordinator for secretary and support staff supervision and will take the lead in conducting the evaluation process.  All agents will assume responsibility of being involved in the evaluation of support staff.

 

Roles and Responsibilities of the County Extension Agent serving as the County Coordinator for Secretary and Support Staff Evaluations:

·        Attend the annual District Training for Support Staff Supervision

·        Take the lead in conducting the performance appraisal process

·        Prepare the evaluation form(s)

·        Schedules time to meet with co-worker(s) to complete evaluation form(s)

·        Send a draft copy of completed evaluation form(s) to District Director for approval prior to meeting with support staff

·        Secure a private location and time to meet with individual staff member(s) to share completed evaluation form(s) – Employee(s) should be given time to ask questions and discuss results

·        Attain proper signatures as required on the form(s)

·        Submit completed form(s) to the District Office by deadline of Oct. 1st

·        Set up counseling sessions as needed throughout the year

·        Provide opportunity for success in the work place

·        Coordinate training and professional development opportunities for county support staff throughout the year
