Gregory Tompkins Cumberland County Extension Agent for AG and Natural Resources
Cumberland County has a rich heritage of family owned and operated farms. The average farm is about 188 acres and there is over 350 farms in the county. Our productive river bottom land is suitable for row crops such as corn , wheat, soybeans and tobacco and we have about 12000 thousand beef cattle on hundred's of acres of pasture. Cumberland County farmers also produce dairy product, poultry, and a wide range of horticulture crops.
