Community & Economic Development

    

     Community and Economic Development programs help communities resolve local problems with objective information and educational assistance. These program also help communities determine long-range plans of action on such issues as economic development, community services, community planning and visioning, land use, and community resource management.

     The Cumberland County Extension Office and its staff actively participate in many of the county's and city's events to support community and economic development. The county agents serve as members of the Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce,Cumberland County Tourism Commission, Cumberland County Fair Board, 21st Century Community Learning Advisory Councils, Family Resource Youth Service Center Advisory Council, KY-ASAP, Cumberland County Farm Bureau Board, and the Cumberland River Bluegrass Festival.

Bluegrass Festival Homemaker Booth

The Extension Homemakers set up shop at the 2008 Bluegrass Festival at Veterans Park in order to recruit new members during the Membership Drive. Pictured here are Libby Long, Hannah McClain with her grandmother Bonnie Holley and Jean Bishop.

 

Quilt Show

Laura McLaughlin and Wanda Graham represented the Quilt Guild during the Quilt Show and Block Contest held during the Bluegrass Festival at the Veteran's Memorial Community Center. Proceeds from the show are used for donations to various community activities.
