The Nutrition Education Program (NEP) is a FREE service of the

University of Kentucky The Kentucky Nutrition Education Programs encompass two separate USDA programs:

 

The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program, and the Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program. Both programs are administered by the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service, and target low income families and individuals with nutrition education. The goals of both are to educate limited resource families with young children and Food Stamp clientele to plan nutritious meals on a limited budget, acquire safe food handling practices, improve food preparation skills and change behavior necessary to have a healthy lifestyle.

 

Nutrition Education Program Vision

 

As a result of the Kentucky Nutrition Education Program, limited resource families and individuals will:

* Improve health and wellness

* Improve diet quality

* Reduce hunger

 

Mission

The Kentucky Nutrition Education Program will educate limited resource people to acquire knowledge, improve skills, and change behavior necessary to achieve health and well-being.
