Features of the Nutrition Education Program:

- Targets low-income families and youth

- Educational programs presented by the county Extension agents, program   assistants, and volunteers who have been trained by the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service

- Educational programs are based on nutritional needs of participants

- Youth programs bases on school core content

- Research based educational materials developed by specialists

- Fewer low birth weight babies

- Increased number of children eating breakfast

- Healthier diets that reduce the risk of chronic diseases
