4-H Camp

It is hard to believe, but it is time to start thinking about 4-H Camp!  Bullitt County will be camping in Jabez at Lake Cumberland,  July 14-18.  Once again we will be camping with Spencer County and Trimble County.  The cost will be $175.  A $50 deposit will hold your bed at camp.  We have space to accept 100 campers.  After these beds are filled we will start a waiting list and campers will only be taken off the waiting list if others drop out.

4-H Camp is open to all youth age 9-13. Campers stay in cabins that hold approximately 20 youth and 2 teens and 2 adult leaders.  Campers enjoy traditional camp activities and some that will be related to this year’s theme CSI: Crime Scene Investigation for the week. Some of our camp activities include canoeing, fishing, swimming, arts and crafts, archery, field and swim Olympics and of course, Sally Down the Alley.  The Kentucky 4-H camping program is accredited by the American Camping Association.

Teen CounselorsNeeded Teen Counselors!
We also are taking applications for Teen Leaders.  These teens are responsible for staying with the campers and taking them from classes, meals and group activities.  They also organize cabin time and responsibilities.  Teen  Counselors  help campers deal with any problems they might have, such as homesickness.  To serve as a Teen Counselor, youth should be 16-19 years of age by July 1st.  All Teen Leaders will be required to attend  training upon selection.  Applications are due by April 1st.

Youth age 14-15 can apply to serve as Counselors in Training (CITs).  CITs serve many of the same functions as Teen Counselors but cannot be left alone while supervising an entire cabin or large group of campers.  Because of space and monetary constraints we can only accept a few CITs.  Applications and letters of reference are due by April 1st.   CITs will also be required to attend training.

If you have any questions regarding 4-H Camp, please call the Extension Office at 543-2257.
